Here is the guideline for beginner JavaScript Developer. Remember it's a lengthy process and it's worth it.

First, you should go through the book YOU DON'T KNOW JS (opens new window) (YDKJS). Some people prefer Eloquent JS (opens new window). Both re good books. But in my case, I found YDKJS more beginner friendly. After finishing YDKJS you can start reading Eloquent JS.

After reading these two books, you will know what the hell is JavaScript. And why it acts abnormally comparing to traditional languages like C or JAVA.

Some topics in the books may seem little overwhelming. You can use this JavaScript Is Sexy (opens new window) blog as a reference. It's a very good resource with simplified examples. Helped me to understand this, callback function and so on.

GOOD LUCK.
